Subject: Kyushu J7W1 Shinden
Manufacturer: Tamiya
Constructed in 1984.
This must have been one of Tamiya's very early efforts. The kit was quite crude by today's standards although the fit of the part that were supplied was good. The air intakes ahead of the wing leading edges were part of the fuselage-half mouldings and had no internal components - you could see through them into the fuselage. I used Plasticard to box them in. In the photograph below you can see where part of this is unpainted. Would you believe that its so dark in there that you can only see this if you shine a torch in - I've just looked.
In the display cabinet it looks good and visitors often comment on this unusual canard.
