Subject: Supermarine Attacker
Manufacturer: Frog
Constructed in 1978
I'm not sure when Frog first released this kit but it must have been in the late 50's or early 60's. It was really quite crude. There were some raised panel lines and control surfaces were engraved and not, thankfully, separate components as they would probably have been in the late 60's. There were several inaccuracies in outline and precious little detail either internally or externally. The engine air intakes allowed an excellent view of the cockpit interior, not that there was much to see in there!
To this day, if you want an injected-moulded Attacker this is the only option. Elliott did a vac-form and there was a wooden offering from Vernon. I spent a little time with plastic card and stretched sprue to compensate for the inadequacies of the kit. The decals were good and are sealed in with a coat of matt clear. It actually looks quite nice in the display cabinet and I really did want an Attacker!
