Subject: BAC Canberra B1 Mk8
Manufacturer: Frog
Constructed in 1980

The Canberra must be one of the most
successful and long-serving aircraft ever to be operated by the RAF. This kit is
typically Frog. The plastic is quite thick and the panel lines are raised but
fine and few in number which wouldn't do for some. Stand 50 meters from the real
thing and the panel lines are all but invisible. I can live with Frog's surface
detail.
Building this was fun. I used gloss paint - the RAF kept theirs clean - but as
gloss dries so slowly I would now use matt and spray a clear gloss prior to
applying the decals to avoid silvering of the carrier film caused by microscopic
trapped air bubbles.
The photograph doesn't do the model justice. It looks magnificent.
