Subject: Bristol Beaufighter Mk-X

Manufacturer: Matchbox

Constructed in 1980

One of Matchbox's earlier offerings, it wasn't that bad. Released in the late 1970's when panel lines were usually represented by raised lines by most manufacturers, this one had them engraved, and not the usual "trenches" for which Matchbox is notorious. The fit of the parts was very good but the decals lacked a solidity of colour and tended to 'silver'. Now, of course, to minimise silvering, I would spray a gloss coat, decal, then seal them in with a coat of clear matt. The cockpit interior is very visible and demands the addition of much more detail, as do the undercarriage wells. The engine cowling cooling gills are solid and need attention. I enjoyed this one. A lot of satisfaction for little outlay.
