Subject: Junkers 86D
Manufacturer: Italeri
Constructed in 1977
Although it has the raised panel lines typical of 1970's kits, they are quite fine and the fit of the parts was excellent. No filler at all was needed. This was not only my first attempt at a Spanish civil war three-colour splinter camouflage scheme but also my first 'dirtied' aircraft. While spraying the final matt finish the airbrush inexplicably spat out tiny drops of something that left minute marks on the surface. It was either 'dirty' with a coat of lighter fuel containing a drop or two of black, or repaint. A little light brown flicked onto the underside behind the wheel to simulate thrown up mud and a few lightly done airstream-blown oil streaks completed the job.
