Subject: Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu (Nick)
Manufacturer: Revell?
Constructed in 1979
Designed as a heavy twin-engined interceptor, the Toryu was asked to do
everything that was not intended until the last year of the war, when, equipped
with twin cannon firing obliquely upwards behind the cockpit, it proved to be a
very effective counter to the American bomber raids.
Although the kit was rather crude compared to
most kits twenty years on - little cockpit detail and a complete absence of
wheel-well detail, the fit of the parts was excellent and no filler at all was
needed. Panel lines were represented by a combination of engraved lines and
subdued riveting. The decals were first class.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable build.
